Strength training for neck
Strong neck is essential for a martial artist. Now I know most of the people would even never think of training your neck. But to hold against chokes and locks you have to have strong neck. So how do you go about building it.
Wrestler’s bridge, but when I first found out about neck training, it was really hard for me to do this exercise. So I had to improvise a little. What I did was very simple.
- Pick a sandbag of 50 pounds.
- Put it on your head and carry it.
- Keep it there for next 1 minute. If you can do it for 1 minute, add another 5 pounds next time you do this exercise.
To make things more difficult. Do not use hands to balance sandbag on your head.
CAUTION: If sandbag is falling from your head… get the heck out of sandbag’s way.
In next 30 days you’ll not only strengthen your neck but also improve your wrestler’s bridge.
