Pushup workouts – Push ups For Stronger Upper Body

Bodyweight Pushup Workouts are one of the best ways you can build stronger upper body. You’d be really surprised to see how effective they are. In India, Traditional wrestlers are known to do thousands of push ups everyday.

Here are few of the pushup variations I prefer to use in workouts

1. Hindu push ups

2. Incline push up (feet on bench)

3. Wide grip push up

4. Hand stand push up(Best excercise for building upper body).

NOTE: Wide grip – A simple pushup is often done with shoulder width distance apart. But wide grips are often doubled up the distance to do it.

I like to switch from one variation to another. All the above variation attacks the upper body differently. For example Handstand pushup will activate your traps and shoulders more than incline or flat variations.

I do in 20 sets. 20 normal push up, then hindu and moving on to wide grip or incline.

Pushup Workout Challenge

I was only using Hindu Push up to do this challenge. It was to see how many days it’ll take me to rise upto 150 hindu push ups. My first day I did 70 of these and kept adding 5 or 10 every day. In 18 days I touched 250 and man it was an experience.

You can vary this challenge by doing many things. I often vary by adding breaks over the course (like how many I can do it in one day). It’s fun, It challenges your body, your mindset and Did I already said it’s fun? Yup…
