How to end self sabotage and lose weight.
Have you ever caught yourself doing something that you KNEW was negative or destructive to your weight loss goals, Yet you couldn’t help yourself?
One of the guy I know always has something negative to talk about when it comes to losing weight. Something like “You see all this, ah man, I am never going to lose it” or may be “Varun, my body has slow metabolism and doesn’t lose fat like it should” or my favorite “It never works, My body gains fat just by breathing, I’ll get fat even if I lose it”.
So many ways to defeat yourself.
Do you know about power of intention? When you say it, you start believing it and making it true. This is what you’ve doing with all the self talk.
Like they say, you are what company you keep… Well you spend 24 hrs with yourself. If this is the kind of talk you spend your time with, you’ll end up lonely depressing yourself, getting fatter everyday. Imagine if any one of your friend keeps talking like this 24/7. Do you think you’d keep close to him?
No chances are sooner or later you’d get fed up and kick him out.
So it’s about time for you to get fed up with your inner demon and kick him out. If you don’t want to live a depressing life, it’s about time.
How does all this start?
You get sad or angry or depressed for any reason and end up reaching for few snacks on your kitchen shelf and feel good. Soon enough you start doing this more often. Feel bad, eat more, eat more, feel bad (as you get fat) and so on and on and on…
Our bodies can often crave high sugar and high fat foods in an attempt to “medicate” ourselves into a calmer state when we are avoiding our emotions or under a lot of stress.
All the food you eat becomes ‘feed good’ food. This ‘feel good’ food makes you crave for more high sugar/fat food and getting you fatter.
What to do?
Believe you can succeed – Believe in your self. Believe you can achieve all the goals you’ve set for yourself. Believe you’ll lose fat. Tell yourself daily 10 times after you wake up everyday “I Know, I can lose all the fat and enjoy the new look and body”.
Replace negative associations – Anything that generates a negative association in you, replace them. If your friends are fat and they tell you to liven up a little… find new friends. Don’t watch TV (watching oprah won’t make you thin).
Take positive steps towards your goals – Start following a good diet and workout program.
Affirm your goals every day – Make few affirmations and read them aloud everyday after you wake up and before you go to bed. Keep reading them until you feel shift in your emotions and your body.
