Phase 3 – Getting rid of last few pounds
The above 2 phases have been discussed in “losing 100 pounds or more…”.
If your goal is over 100 pounds or more then first 2 phases will get you under 40 pounds or less.
Now what changes in phase 3. Won’t the same workout or diet routine from first 2 phases work anymore?
The answer is very simple. The diet/workout will work, don’t even doubt about it. Because you were really heavy and any kind of exercise would have put lots of pressure on your joints. I didn’t recommend any of my usual routines based on intensity. Of course you can add weight training in phase 2.
For in this stage when you want to get rid of last 15–20 pounds. You have to add some intense workouts like I suggest on this blog. So far I’ve been preparing your body to handle the intensity in first 2 phases.
The goal for this phase is very simple. Build more lean muscle mass, improve metabolism and lose last few extra pounds.
Now this is where it gets hard. Losing last pounds is often where most people make mistakes. This is the time where you have to be super strict with your diet plan and stick to your workouts.
People often get lazy after getting some really good results. Their friends, spouses tell them to live up a little now when they have shed so much excess fat. From there it’s begins. The downward spiral. I’ve seen it happening so many times that it’s not even funny.

For diet, I highly recommend you to follow strict healthy diet. No more cheat days. No more un-necessary celebrating your weight loss with friends/relatives. Strict means STRICT diet. You have no idea how hard it’s to lose last few pounds. You want to celebrate, you want to live a little but you have to hold back.
First get rid of the excess fat and only then celebrate. But then again, don’t go on binge of celebrations. Next 6 months – 1 year is going to be very important. This is the time when people gain weight again (like it happened to me).
If you can keep yourself from getting fat for next year or so… You’ve managed to get rid of fat forever.
